FAQs
Frequently Ask Questions
What is the cost of the house?
The three bedrooms and three bathrooms are $365,000. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms are $325,000.
Does it come with utility connections?
Yes, the house is ready to connect to sewer, water, and electrical lines. The house is all-electric, but we have the option for gas or propane, depending on where you place the house. California is moving in the direction of all-electric homes with no gas connections in the near future. Our homes are ready for the leap.
What is included in the price?
The price includes the house and connections once delivered on site, which includes connections of the modules and all finished work to provide you with a finished house. We also manage the submittal process with the local municipality and coordinate any consultants needed to obtain permits. We also project manage the construction of the site work and foundation work to ensure a smooth process and delivery of the house. The homeowner does not need to worry about handling and managing this process. What is not included is the land, foundation, permit fees, septic systems (if required), trenching for utilities and the utility lines to the house, transportation, and crane to put the house in place over the foundation. The goal is to provide you with a smooth and stress-free process. We want you to sit back and relax and let us manage the process for you.
Are consultants needed?
It depends on the location. If a house is demolished, not many consultants are typically needed compared to raw vacant land. Here is a list of consultants:
Surveyor
Soil Engineer (Geological and/or Geotechnical)
Septic Designer (Typically in rural areas)
Civil Engineer
Archaeological
Biologist
Arborist
As part of the process, we analyze what is needed to move the project forward. We have extensive knowledge of the submittal process and managing consultants to obtain permits.
When is production going to start?
Production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
How long does it take to get a house built?
The house only takes six weeks to build. We would coordinate the submittal process, which can take one to three months, depending on the municipality or county process. If consultants are needed, sometimes they can be backlogged for a couple of months. Once we understand the requirements from the planning and building department and assess the location, we put together a timeline to help you understand the timeframe and navigate through the process.
What is the process from start to finish?
The process is as follows:
How do I get started?
After an initial meeting, we would do our homework on your site to determine the feasibility of installation and delivery. We would then visit the site and meet with you to discuss the process. After everything meets the criteria for development, we will enter into a contract and help you obtain permits with your local planning and building department and start the development process.
What size lot do I need?
Quido homes have a small footprint designed to fit in small lots; 40-ft wide by 100-ft deep should do it. Don't hesitate to ask us, and we can determine for you if the house will work on your lot.
Can I put this home in a city lot?
Yes, the design of the house fits most typical small lots, typically 40ft x 100ft. Lot size varies in a city, but those dimensions are standard in a city.
What are the benefits of a house built in a factory versus a site-built house?
For starters, the timeframe is a lot faster. While the house is under fabrication, the site work and foundation can be underway. Site preparation includes grading, utilities, trenching, and foundation work. This process can save roughly two to three months on a timeline. The quality of the construction in a factory provides faster timeframes to build; materials are not open to the weather allowing the house construction under any conditions, rain or snow. Also, since the materials are available at the factory, the carbon footprint is much less than a site-built home requiring multiple daily trips. The house is designed to be transported, and the quality of the construction and connections are more robust than a site-built home. Also, a typical site-built house usually requires seven to ten inspections from a governing agency, and a factory-built house requires the same inspections. Lastly, the quality is much better under a controlled environment to build the house, allowing the crews to perform with higher craftsmanship.
